🎉 Aaru Gets a GUI — Seven Years in the Making

03/11/2025

Seven years ago, I knew very little about graphical interfaces. I hadn’t built many, and I was far from an expert. But I believed Aaru deserved one — even if I had to learn as I went.

Back then, cross-platform GUI frameworks for C# that worked reliably on Linux, Windows, and macOS were still in their infancy. Combine that with my own inexperience, and the result was… well, let’s just say the interface was more “proof of concept” than “pleasant to use.” So I shelved it.

Fast forward to today: after years of growth, hard-earned experience, and a few intense days of focused development using a modern framework, I’m thrilled to announce that Aaru finally has a graphical interface — and it’s ready for public testing!

🖼️ What’s Included

  • ✅ A clean, intuitive, and cross-platform GUI for image management
  • ✅ Polished workflows that feel good to use
  • ✅ As bug-free as I could make it (but I welcome your feedback!)

🔧 What’s Still in Progress

  • ❌ Device management isn’t integrated yet — it’s actively in development and will arrive in a future release

This milestone means a lot to me. It’s not just about adding a feature — it’s about revisiting an old challenge with new tools and perspective, and finally delivering something that feels right.

I hope you enjoy exploring the new interface. Your feedback will help shape what comes next.

Happy testing, and thank you for being part of Aaru’s journey!
